The Records Management Institute
(RMI) has been serving the records and information management communities since
1952. The objectives of the RMI include providing leadership to the records
management profession and acting as a clearinghouse for networking, sharing
ideas, and developing our profession by providing guidance into the future.
Our skills and expertise are very
much in demand and knowledge is sought by all in the electronic work
environment as well as program officials. Records are a vital part of the
electronic age. We will need to rise to the challenge and carry forward those
practices which are vital and embrace new theories and practices where
applicable within in the world of the internet, intranet, and the many new
approaches being adopted by incorporating our expertise and learning everything
we can about what the expectations will be of our profession.
For the upcoming year, the RMI
Executive is planning an exciting training schedule, fall seminar in November
2001, relevant program topics, continued strong corporate membership and
dynamic public relations, and will provide members with interesting challenges
and opportunities to succeed in the records management profession.
Please provide us with feedback
on your issues and concerns. The RMI is here to work with you and provide you
with a focal point to learn, share, and grow within the records management
community. Please come forward with your articles, ideas, etc. There are some
10,000 of you across Canada, many of whom are situated in the National Capital
Region. I look forward to meeting with you at monthly program meetings, first
Wednesday of the month.
Hope you had a wonderful summer!
